The two versions of Tiny Draw
Tiny Draw comes in two forms: the website at tinydraw.app, which runs in a browser and can be added to your home screen, and the iPad app from the App Store. Nearly everything in this policy is true of both. In the few places where they differ, this policy says so and describes both.
What we collect
Nothing. Tiny Draw has no user accounts, no sign-up, and no forms. It does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. There are no analytics tools, no advertising networks, and no third-party services embedded in it. Everything it needs to run, including its fonts and animation code, comes from Tiny Draw itself.
Your drawings
A drawing exists on the canvas while your child is drawing it. It is never stored on our server or sent anywhere off your device. Saving and opening pictures work differently in the two versions:
Website
Saving is an ordinary download: the picture becomes a PNG file that your browser puts wherever it puts downloads. Opening a picture to draw over uses your browser's file picker, so the only image Tiny Draw ever sees is the one you choose.
iPad app
Saving writes the picture to your Photos library. Tiny Draw asks only for add-only access, which lets it add a new picture but not read, browse, or change anything already in your library. That permission is requested once, by an adult during setup, and you can change or withdraw it at any time in the iOS Settings app. Opening a picture to draw over uses the iOS photo picker, which runs outside the app and hands over only the single image you tap, so Tiny Draw never has access to your library in either direction.
What is stored on your device
Tiny Draw keeps a little information on your own device. None of it is personal and none of it is transmitted.
Website
Stored in your browser's local storage: when you last used Tiny Draw, so it can go straight to the canvas if you have just been drawing, and which version you last loaded, so updates are picked up cleanly.
iPad app
Stored on the iPad itself: the choices made during setup, such as whether the Save and Open buttons are shown, and when the app was last used. All of it is removed if you delete the app.
Network use
Website
Tiny Draw loads its own files from tinydraw.app and periodically checks a small version file so you get updates. These requests carry no cookies and no identifiers set by us. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes standard technical request data such as IP addresses in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Tiny Draw also keeps a copy of its own files on your device so it works offline; that copy is the app, not your drawings.
iPad app
None. Everything Tiny Draw needs is bundled inside the app, so it makes no network requests of any kind, at any time. It works exactly the same with the iPad in airplane mode.
Children's privacy
Tiny Draw is designed for children, and it is built to ensure there is nothing to protect them from. Neither version collects personal information from anyone, including children under 13. This means there is no personal data to sell, share, or lose, in line with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the GDPR, and similar laws.
Changes to this policy
If Tiny Draw ever changes in a way that affects privacy, this page will be updated first and the date above will change. Because the app collects nothing, we expect this policy to stay boring.
